Friday, Oct 23, 2009 @08:15am CDT (Little Rock, AR) -- New numbers show that recent tobacco taxes in Arkansas aren't keeping smokers away. Though a few might have stopped lighting up, those still in the game are paying more. That's expected to bring in $33 million tax dollars than expected for fiscal year 2010. Arkansas' tobacco cessation hotline receives about 400 calls a week. That's only up about 50 calls, since before the tax went into effect. |
