  • Parkview Senior to Join US Army Marching Band
    Reported by: David Oliver

    Monday, Oct 19, 2009 @02:30pm CDT

(Springfield, MO) -- There's a special standout star in the band at Parkview High School.

Senior Bryce Heffington has been selected to join the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.

More than 1,200 students across the country audition for the band that plays at the All-American Bowl game in San Antonio in January.

Heffington calls it a huge honor considering he almost bolted from the band.

"I almost quit the band my freshman year and I've come a long way from that point.  Marching band has been one of my life's biggest stories.  It just means so much to end up where i am now."

Students at Parkview honored Heffington with an assembly Monday.

He's one of 16 trumpet players in the 94-piece band.  The All-American Bowl will be on television Saturday, January 9th.
