Sunday, Apr 6, 2008 @09:34pm CDT We hear a lot about home builders trying to be environmentally friendly. And one segment of that industry says it can do it better than most. This weekend, dozens of log home and timber frame manufacturers showed off their home designs at an expo in Branson. This expo is making its way across the country, showcasing the benefits of purchasing a log home. Those here say log homes use less energy to heat and cool since the logs make thick walls. The homes are also renewable in another way. Log home builder Mark Dunn says, "it's probably the only building system that we have available in our planet that naturally can renew itself. In essence, if we keep planting trees, we can keep rebuilding homes." Log homes are typically built off-site and then delivered to the customer's property. |
