Reported by: Sonya Kullmann Wednesday, Mar 26, 2008 @07:34am CDT The Missouri Department of Natural Resources runs something called the "low-income weatherization" program. It began back in 1978, and since then has helped pay to weatherize more than 150,000 homes in the state. Sealing out the elements means lower bills for homeowners, and of course, helps save energy and natural resources. The program funds come from the U.S. Department of Energy and the state. Priority is given to the elderly, families with children, and those with physical disabilities. If you'd like to learn more about the program, or give your input on how funds are spent, you can attend an upcoming public hearing next week in Springfield. It's set for Friday, April 4, at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center. It runs from 10:30 to 11:00 am. |
