Reported by: Sonya Kullmann Thursday, Mar 20, 2008 @07:21am CDT Recycling could soon be almost as easy as mailing a letter -with a pilot project the U.S. Postal Service is starting. While it's not available in our area yet, it could be someday, if it's successful in the ten cities where the postal service is trying it. Here's how it works: You pick up a free envelope at the post office, and use it to mail off inkjet cartridges or old small electronics like digital cameras or mp3 players. The postage is free, because a company called clover technologies group is paying for it. The items get shipped to that company, and if it can't fix the device, use it for scrap parts, or re-use the ink cartridges, it recycles them. Clover technologies says it has a zero waste landfill policy. It does everything it can to avoid contributing anything to the nation's landfills. This program is not yet available in the Ozarks. |
