Reported by: Joy Robertson Thursday, Sep 3, 2009 @09:45pm CDT You likely remember Haley Stevens. We brought you the story of the Springfield teenager in two Personal Portaits.
She was a vibrant Central High School student -- a dancer and a Kiltie -- until she began to notice muscle weakness. She was diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease in 2007. She and her mother Gretchen wanted to educate viewers about the disease, and the toll it takes mostly on people closer to age 60. This time, it took the life of a beautiful young girl. Haley died Thursday night around 9 p.m. at Cox South Hospital. She was 17 years old. |
