Monday, Jul 6, 2009 @07:31am CDT (Springfield, MO) -- To some they are known to some as flying flowers. We're talking about butterflies. The butterfly house at Nathaneal Green Park is the heart of the Butterfly Festival July 11 and 12. The first Friends of the Garden Butterfly Festival lets you get an up close look at native butterflies as they transform from egg to butterfly. The festival is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. On Saturday and Sunday classes will be offered in a variety of topics including butterfly identification, photography, and gardening. There will also be a butterfly and caterpillar costume contest on Sunday. This event is a great opportunity to introduce kids to the butterflies and their metamorphosis. Admission for all activities and parking is free. |
