Thursday, Jan 10, 2008 @07:09pm CST If you're searching for a place to get rid of that old computer then we may have what you're looking for. KOLR10 and the Computer Recycling Center in Springfield have teamed up to sponsor a drive to help improve the environment. This week, people have been digging in their basements and attics looking for items to recycle and it's all in an effort to go green. Since the early hours on Thursday, people around the Ozarks have been driving up and dropping off their electronic items at the Computer Recycling Center on north National. "We got electrical equipment that you know I never know what to do with that kind of stuff and this is perfect. It hangs around. It hangs around and I'm getting rid of it." says Wilma Bunch, who was recycling electronics. From cell phones, keyboards and VCR's to toner cartridges, scanners and batteries; people are doing their part to help the environment. "It's very nice. We're very very pleased about it. We're environmental people and we're confident what we can to help the environment and we're so appreciative of all the people bringing in their electronics." says Computer Recycling Center's General Manager John Missildine. Glen Sarber of Springfield is starting off his new year in a green way while getting rid of all his unused items at home. He says, "Some of it still worked a little bit and some of it was completely broken it. This was an excellent opportunity to get rid of it and clean out this basement." Workers at the center are making it easy for people to drop off their recycling items. They are helping people unload their items out of their vehicles. Once you drop off your items, workers will shred, ground up and recycle them. The Computer Recycling Center is located at 1434 North National. It's all free with the exception of a $20 fee for televisions. If you missed Thursday's event, the Computer Recycling Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. |
