A drive turns deadly for several people this evening.

This happened just east of Springfield where Chestnut Expressway turns into Farm Road 132.

Tonight, investigators are looking into what exactly happened out there.

Emergency crews first got the call around 4:30p.m. this afternoon that a car had gone off the road.

Upon arriving at that scene though, investigators realized it was worse than they first thought.

Trooper Mory McKnight of the Missouri State Highway Patrol says, "the vehicle is completely totalled. It is in two parts at this time, and that's really all there is to say about that."strafford22008-01-05-1199591818.jpg

Officers say that car was travelling down Farm Road 132 when it skidded out of control, going off the right side of the road, and into a tree.

Officers say all four people in the car died on scene, once that car hit the tree.

Witnesses tell us they heard the crash, and went down to check it out.

That's when they saw the unrecognizable car.

Those we talked with tonight, say they've seen several deadly crashes along this hilly stretch through the years, and have asked the county to fix the road.

strafford32008-01-05-1199591832.jpgNeighbor Ralph Stenger says, "over the years, the only thing that's been done, is they've reduced the speed limit signs and they put up the guardrails. They won't fix the road."

Neighbor Deana King adds, "the speed limit through here is just 30. And people do not go by that at all. I mean they go flying up and down here, and with living on this road, you see this all the time."

Neighbors say they'd like to see the county lower some of those hills.

At this point, Highway Patrol investigators are digitally reconstructing that crash.

Officers tell us they're not sure if speed played a factor in this crash, but that all four victims were wearing their seatbelts.

At this point, the names and ages of those victims are being withheld, until family members are notified.
