Saturday, Dec 22, 2007 @09:58pm CST The Ozarks community comes through for families in need this Christmas. That's the word from Crosslines as it hosted its annual Toystore today. While organizers were worried they would not be able to meet the need this year, parents of more than 2,700 kids came to pick out new toys for their children at the National Guard Armory. Meanwhile, more than 800 families picked up food baskets at pathways United Methodist Church. Crosslines says the spirit of Christmas was even more apparent in a year where it was tough to make ends meet. Crosslines Director Pam Copling says, "this year, we're hearing more than ever 'we usually do okay, but this year we don't have any extra money', so times have been really tight lately." About five hundred volunteers worked today's toy and food distribution. |
