City Utilities will soon expand its presence in Greene County.

The Utility announced it has signed a contract to purchase land along McDaniel Lake just north of Springfield.

CU says those six acres just across Farm Road 76 will continue efforts to provide clean drinking water.

The Utility gets a good amount of water from McDaniel Lake.

CU purchased the land from the Rolland Comstock Trust for $220,000 and reports the land has cleared an environmental audit.

The actual closing will follow formal approval as required by city charter.
