Saturday, May 30, 2009 @06:30pm CDT Saturday's blue skies were trumped by a green spirit. The Springfield Greene County Park Board and Greater Ozarks Audubon Society hosted Green Fest. The free event helped paint the vision of going green. There were a number of different energy saving demonstrations, including how to cut carbon emissions and innovative ideas for recycling. Directors say they feel the green movement is starting to pay off in the Ozarks. Sue Shuble said "in this day and age, we're really trying to stress sustainability. Our community has a lot of LEED certified buildings and people are starting to become more aware." This is the last of six together green events. Toyota sponsored all of them with a seven thousand dollar grant. |
