The Missouri State football team wrapped up the 2007 season this afternoon at home, hosting intrastate foe Southeast Missouri State.
The Bears were looking to end the year on a winning note, and with a winning record. Missouri State came into the day at an even five and five.
A victory, and the Bears would triple their win total from last year, when they won just twice.
Scoreless in the first, Cody Kirby dumps it out to his receiver Brandon Oliver, and oliver does the rest, 35 yards, and it's seven-nothing Missouri State.
Then, check out this great throw and coach, Kirby 15 yards to Jordan Eversly, the one-handed catch, it's 19-3.
Running back Gerald Davis ended his Bears career on a great note. He had three touchdowns on the day, this one sets a new school record, his 19th touchdown run of the season.
Then things got even more fun. On a kickoff, Waylon Resharday picks it up and the defensive tacklle is living the lineman's dream, takes it all the way. Gets mugged in the endzone, that made it 48-17.
The Bears win, 55-17. And coach Terry Allen gets a Gatorade bath.
"This team you can see is really buying in and Coach Allen really has these guys going in the right direction. These guys are going to be good in the following years. Hopefully it's really setting the foundation for the future of our program and those guys will be a big part of that. That's a brand-new Missouri State. And I just thank the seniors for setting the good example of work ethic and staying focused."
