    Reported by: Dan Lucy

    Friday, Nov 9, 2007 @10:42pm CST

MSHSAA2007-11-09-1194669921.jpgMore high school football playoff action Friday night. It's quarterfinal action for the bigger class six and five schools.

In class five, Glendale hosted Belton. That game was a JFK Stadium.

The Falcons are in their second straight trip to the state quarterfinals.

And Belton would strike first, Zach Rasmussen in punt formation, he keeps on the fake, to the far sideline, and he takes it to the house a 48 yard touchdown run it's 7-nothing Pirates.

Later in the first quarter on fourth and four Rasmussen keeps, again goes to the far sideline, he's dragged down on the two yard line, the Pirates would score again to make it 14-nothing.

Glendale would cut that lead in half when Joey Mendel takes it to the right side, keeps on the option, turns the corner and is gone, a 52 yard touchdown run to make it a 14-6 game with the missed p-a-t.

But Belton would answer immediately, through the air, Rasmussen throws to Chad Henderson, he is dragged down on the one yard line.

Casey Lewis scored to make it 21-6. Then later in the second, Lewis would score again, this time from eight yards out it's 28-6.

The Pirates added another when Jake Paxton scores from three yards out it was 34-6 belton at halftime.

Second half and Rasmussen would score again on an 80 yard touchdown run.

And Belton goes onto win 41-12.

Gary Hurst/Glendale Coach:"We just couldn't match up with them up front tonight. and they took advantage of us. I'm real proud of our kids and the effort that they put out in the game. They had a good year."

Tanner Thompson/Glendale Running Back:"They played harder than we did maybe. Maybe they were faster than us. You never know, mistakes, it takes all kinds of things."

Kevin Redmon/Glendale Quarterback:"They were pretty good up front. We really didn't put any pressure on the quarterback. They were a pretty athletic team, I'll give them that. And they were pretty well coached. So they had good players."
