Thursday, Nov 8, 2007 @07:06pm CST A restaurant fire kept firefighters on their toes Thursday afternoon in east The blaze broke out just before at the Scramblers on East Sunshine. When the first crew arrived, thick black smoke and flames could be seen. However, the restaurant did have a firewall and crews were able to keep the fire and the smoke contained to scramblers. Fire fighters say there were a few obstacles. "We had just some of your basic problems. We do have traffic in here, people wanting to look, blocking our vehicles. Getting water to back here took us a little bit of time to do that. The hydrants are a little bit away from here and just the general access in the area." explains Richard Kuhn, Battalion Chief. Everyone in the restaurant did get out okay. Scramblers does have extensive fire, smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire and where it began is still under investigation. |
