Reported by: Dan Lucy Wednesday, Nov 7, 2007 @10:55pm CST High School football teams across the state of Missouri took their first step toward a state championship Wednesday night in sectional play. Class one through class four in action. And that includes unbeaten Mountain Grove at Cabool. Mtn. Grove coach Steve Ary and Cabool coach Vince McCrosky are best buddies, but both want to win. And Cabool would break on top first, Patrick Jesse hits Ryan Smith with this 21 yard touchdown pass it's 7-nothing Bulldogs. Mountain Grove would answer, the pass into the flat to Aaron Clarson, he breaks a tackler at the corner, takes it down the far sideline and takes it to the house, a 76 yard touchdown connection, it's 7-6 with the missed p-a-t. Cabool moving the ball again, later in the first quarter, Jesse rolls right, turns the corner, but then gets hit, coughs up the ball and Mountain Grove's Chris Shannon recovers, he returns it about 25 yards before getting tackled. But McCrosky's Dogs would hold. And early in the second quarter C.R. Polston scores from a yard out it's 14-6. Cabool would hold on and beat Mountain Grove 28-27 in overtime. |
