  • Man Sentenced for Harvesting and Selling Paddlefish Eggs

    (Springfield, MO) -- A former Shell Knob man is sentenced in federal court for illegally taking paddlefish eggs and selling caviar.
       
    Thomas Nix, Junior of Memphis, Tennessee was catching the fish in illegal nets at Table Rock Lake.  He was then harvesting the eggs, which were processed into caviar.
       
    Nix sold more than 400 pounds of the caviar to a Tennessee business last year.
       
    He was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison without parole.  He's also been ordered to pay $30,000  in restitution to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
